Twitter was rife with lamentations as Arsenal all but blew their top-four hopes, following a 2-0 defeat to an impressive Newcastle side at Saint James Park on Monday, May 16, 2022.
A Ben White own goal in the 55th minute and an 85th minute strike from Bruno Guimaraes who continues his impressive goal run since signing from Lyon in January sparked varying reactions from Gunners and opps (opposition fans) alike.
Arsenal fans lamented the inability of the side to control their Champions League qualification fate, with bitter North London rivals Spurs sitting somewhat comfy in 4th place with 68 points while the Gunners sit in 5th with 66 points, while opps mocked them for failing to take advantage of their outstanding game, leaving the North London side potentially heading to the Europa League.

@Ifeanyi_Nwak I’m not sure a lot of Arsenal fans have honest opinions about the state of their club. Arsenal are a mid club with below average players and an overall average outlook. Realistically should be finishing 7th/8th but they got lucky this season. Arsenal aren’t UCL material
@chintersingh Done with this football club, Mikel Arteta got rewarded for failure. Arsenal are going nowhere, you’re delusional if you think otherwise.
