President Bola Tinubu has officially submitted a letter to the National Assembly, urging the confirmation of 19 nominees for commissioner roles at the National Population Commission (NPC).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio presented Tinubu’s letter during the Tuesday plenary on December 12.
The list of nominees includes individuals from various states across Nigeria:
- Emmanuel Eke (Abia)
- Clifford Zirra (Adamawa)
- Chidi Ezeoke (Anambra)
- Isa Buratai (Borno)
- Alex Ukam (Cross River)
- Blessyn Brume-Ataguba (Delta)
- Jeremiah Nwankwegu (Ebonyi)
- Tony Aiyejina (Edo)
- Ejike Ezeh (Enugu)
- Abubakar Damburam (Gombe)
- Uba Nnabue (Imo)
- Dogon Garba (Kaduna)
- Aminu Tsanyawa (Kano)
- Yori Afolabi (Kogi)
- Olakunle Sobukola (Ogun)
- Temitayo Oluwatuyi (Ondo)
- Mary Afan (Plateau)
- Ogiri Henry (Rivers)
- Saany Sale (Taraba)
President Tinubu also extended his request for the Senate’s approval of three additional nominations:
- Babajide Fasina (South-West)
- Enorense Amadasu (South-South)
- Bashir Indabawa (North-West)
In response, the Senate, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, has given the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) a two-week deadline to provide a comprehensive report on the nominated individuals.
