Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Sports and Youth Development and a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that former President Muhammadu Buhari now grapples with regret over his administration’s failure to fulfill key campaign promises to the Nigerian people.
Dalung, who served in Buhari’s government, accused the president’s allies of tarnishing his reputation, stating, “We failed to meet our expectations, and I am not hypocritical because as a major stakeholder who campaigned vigorously in 2015 and went to the nooks and crannies of the north, of all the promises we made, we fulfilled none of them.”
He acknowledged that the administration fell short in addressing security concerns, reviving the economy, and combating corruption, as pledged during their campaign.
Dalung further expressed that President Buhari, known for his honesty, had his integrity tarnished by those around him. Reflecting on the situation today, Dalung believes Buhari lives with regret.
Regarding the security situation, Dalung noted that while some progress was made between 2015 and 2019, the current insecurity crisis is a grave indictment on the APC, as it worsened beyond historical proportions.
