Today in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari will yet again throw his weight behind Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential standard bearer in the February 25 elections.
On Saturday, the APC candidate will hold two rallies in Kebbi and the Federal Capital Territory.
Festus Keyamo, the chief spokesperson for the APC presidential campaign council, told our correspondent over the phone that while the Kebbi rally is scheduled to start between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., the Abuja campaign will start between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
In addition, Tinubu will hold a town hall meeting with business owners and other professionals in the FCT on Sunday. He would resume his campaign in Imo State on Tuesday, he added.
The development follows Tinubu’s late night meeting with the President at the State House, which serves as his official residence.
At 9.45 p.m., the APC poster boy met with Buhari behind closed doors after forgoing the “Meet the Mentor” luncheon hosted in his honor by the Progressive Sisters Network at the International Conference Center in Abuja.
He announced to the crowd; “I have a greater appointment. The president called me late yesterday and asked me to arrive at his home by 9:45 p.m. on Friday.
“What should I do? Change your mind and ignore my president? And it is essentially a mandate. See you at 9.45 o’clock, he said.
“I can’t say that I would boycott or devalue this event. First and foremost, I must be here to ask for your understanding.
“For races like these, there is usually a pair. I am running for vice president.”
Although the meeting’s agenda was kept confidential, sources claimed that it might have something to do with campaign logistics and last-minute plans.
