In response to the recent report suggesting that ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Sabiu Tunde ‘Yusuf,’ approved the redesign of the naira, PDP chieftain, Daniel Bwala, has expressed dismay and raised crucial questions.
Bwala, who was Atiku’s spokesperson during the 2023 elections, stated, “It is shocking and regrettable that the special investigator is attempting to exonerate Muhammadu Buhari by shifting responsibility to his nephew for the naira redesign approval.”
Demanding clarity, Bwala questioned the nephew’s official status, the authority granting approval, the president in office at the time, the accountability of the CBN governor, and ultimately, where the responsibility lies.
“Meanwhile Emefiele is in custody, the nephew of PMB and PMB are free somewhere. The rule of law dictates that nobody is above the law; and everyone is equal before it,” Bwala stated.
These remarks follow the findings of Special Investigator Jim Obazee, who submitted the final report titled ‘Report of the Special Investigation on CBN and Related Entities (Chargeable Offences)’ to President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday. Notably, Tinubu appointed Obazee, a former Executive Secretary of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, as the CBN special investigator in July 2023.
