The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been urged by the Federal High Court in Lagos to look at alternatives to Musiliu Akinsanya, well known as MC Oluomo, distributing election materials in Lagos State in 2023.
This was declared by Judge Chukwujekwu Aneke in a ruling on Friday in a lawsuit brought by the Labour Party, its governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Favour, and four other people.
Prior to adjourning to hear the main case on Tuesday, the court had approved an interim order on the matter on Monday.
During a hearing in the substantive matter on Wednesday, the court postponed issuing its decision until Friday (today).
The court’s most recent decision forbids INEC from working with MC Oluomo on the distribution of election materials in Lagos.
The order of perpetual injunction restrains “INEC and/or their privies or any persons acting under their directions from contracting, partnering or appointing Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, Lagos State Parks Management Committee or any of its members and/or drivers to distribute 2023 election materials and personnel in Lagos State.”
