Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has called on security forces to apprehend those responsible for the brutal killing of two local chiefs in Oke-Ako, Ikole Local Government Area.
Quest Times reports that the governor issued this directive on Tuesday, condemning the Monday assault in Oke-Ako that resulted in the tragic deaths of Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, during an ambush after a meeting.
A government statement revealed that the Alara of Ara–Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, narrowly escaped the attack.
Governor Oyebanji, in a statement by his spokesperson, Yinka Oyebode, assured that security forces are already on the ground to identify and bring the culprits to justice.
“The Governor, who had just presided over the state security council meeting in Ado-Ekiti, barely an hour before the incident occurred, said no stone will be left unturned in the bid to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Oyebode said.
Oyebanji expressed condolences to the affected communities and urged calm, emphasizing that the government would ensure justice prevails. He encouraged residents not to take matters into their own hands.
