President Bola Tinubu expressed outrage on Tuesday over the tragic killing of two revered monarchs in Ekiti State, denouncing the mindless violence that claimed the lives of the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, David Ogunsola.
Quest Times recalls that the monarchs, returning from a security meeting in Irele-Ekiti, fell victim to gunmen near Ikole Local Government Area on Monday.
Riding with their counterpart, Alara of Ikole Ekiti, Adebayo Fatoba, the attackers struck at the vulnerable trio in an area known as “Ayo Shock” between Ipao and Oke Ako.
Expressing condolences to the families, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and the people of Ekiti State, President Tinubu, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, issued a stern statement titled, “President Tinubu condemns killing of traditional rulers in Ekiti, directs immediate rescue of kidnapped pupils.”
In the wake of the tragedy, Tinubu not only mourned the loss of the two traditional rulers, but also directed immediate efforts to rescue kidnapped pupils and teachers in Eporo-Ekiti.
Unknown gunmen abducted at least six pupils, three teachers, and a bus driver from Apostolic Faith School, Ekiti, as they returned from Eporo-Ekiti on Monday night.
Assuring Nigerians of strengthened security measures, Tinubu affirmed his commitment to fortifying the nation’s security architecture, emphasizing the government’s unwavering responsibility to safeguard life and property.
