Suspected bandits struck on Tuesday night, claiming the lives of Babangida Abubakar Sadeeq, a former general manager of the Jigawa State Housing Authority, along with two others.
The tragic incident occured at Yalwandamai road as Babangida was returning to his hometown, Birnin Kudu, after a day spent on his farm in Dutse.
Eyewitnesses recounted that Babangida had stopped by a village near Yalwandamai to check on his farm workers before continuing his journey.
However, tragedy struck when, just a short distance from the farm, occupants of his vehicle noticed suspicious individuals ahead. Sensing danger, they alerted Babangida.
In a desperate bid to assess the situation, Babangida turned on the vehicle’s full lights, only to provoke an attack from the unidentified assailants, who opened fire on the moving car.
The victims, including Babangida, were rushed to the Federal Medical Center Birnin Kudu, where medical personnel confirmed their tragic demise.
Confirming the incident, DSP Lawan Shiisu, the Police Public Relations Officer, assured the public that authorities were actively pursuing the perpetrators to bring them to justice.
