Kingsley Fanwo, an All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives aspirant in Yagba constituency, Kogi, has denied employing thugs to detain and assault Folorunsho Olafemi, his opponent and winner of the primary election held on Friday.
There was widely circulated reports on social media alleging that Fanwo declared some of Olafemi’s votes void and afterwards, invited soldiers to disrupt proceedings.
Reacting, the former commissioner of Governor Yahaya Bello, described the report as “very funny” while denying all the allegations levied against him.

“I don’t believe in thuggery and I have no command of the army.
“We know those who deployed thugs to block the road to the Executive Chairman’s house the day before and we know that those thugs too were brought to Isanlu.
“They are probably clever by half. I am a democrat who will never subscribe to any undemocratic practice. The Army will speak for itself,” Fanwo told Quest Times on Sunday.
Efforts by Quest Times reporter to reach the spokesperson of the Nigerian Army to clear the air over the allegation proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
