Former chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) has revealed that any man, irrespective of his background can make great progress in life if he is determined and has the capacity to work hardship towards an objective.
Sagay, the renowned constitutional lawyer stated this in his autobiography titled ‘ All Will Be Well’ which was launched last year and a copy of which was made available to QUEST TIMES.
On page 129, Sagay wrote ” I need to narrate at this stage, a case of the great progress in life a man can make if he is determined and has the capacity to work hardship towards and objective”.
” My first house help, to whom I have already made reference, left my house after about four or five months to commence his secondary school career. I was happy for him and I wished him well”.
” Then about six years later, he came to my office to inform me that he had completed secondary school and had taken the entrance examination into Ife to read English. Meanwhile, he was already working in Barclays Bank, now Union Bank, pending the University’s opening for new students”.
” I rejected his studying English and got him transferred from the Department of English to Law. He came to read Law in 1977, graduated in 1980 and was called to the Bar in 1981″.
” He worked for some years in a Law Firm and later commenced a very successful legal practice and was appointed a Senior Advocate Of Nigeria in 2000″.
” That’s the original story of grass to grace of Chief Felix Fagbohungbe, SAN. His story is told in the book, The Radiance of Silk, A Documentary published in 2012 (page 96).”
