Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expanded his administration’s information dissemination capabilities by appointing 94 new aides to serve as Senior Special Reporters (SSRs) and Special Reporters (SRs) in various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state.
QUEST TIMES recalls that Gov Yusuf was sacked by the Kano State Election Petition Tribunal on September 20, 2023.
This move brings the total number of aides serving the governor to 290, including Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants. The announcement of these new appointments was made by Sanusi Bature, Chief Press Secretary to the governor.
The goal of these appointments is to enhance accessibility to information and promote transparency in governance. SSRs and SRs will be strategically placed in different MDAs to facilitate the effective communication of government policies and programs.
He said, “In tandem with the commitment of his administration to promote accessibility to information as a prelude to improving good governance in the state, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the appointment of additional Senior Special Reporters (SSRs) and Special Reporters (SRs).
“The SSRs and SRs are posted to various Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to complement the drive for transparency and accountability through information dissemination on government policies and programmes,” he said.
As a result of this expansion, nearly all MDAs in Kano State will now have two dedicated reporters responsible for covering their activities, ensuring that the government’s initiatives and actions are communicated effectively to the public.
