Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has vowed to dismiss any Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of aviation agencies who do not meet their performance obligations.
Speaking at a one-day Aviation Stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos State, Minister Keyamo emphasized his commitment to delivering on his responsibilities, having signed a performance bond with fellow ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Addressing the CEOs of aviation agencies present, Keyamo stated, “On this side, it is either I get sacked, or they get sacked. So, it is a race to see who will survive. That’s what I have conveyed to all my CEOs—someone must take responsibility, but before I do, I will ensure accountability.”
To secure his position, the Aviation minister appealed for the support of industry stakeholders and urged them to focus on problem-solving rather than assigning blame. He also outlined his ministry’s recent activities, including airport inspections and the acquisition of land for a second runway at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Keyamo expressed optimism that these efforts would enhance Nigeria’s aviation sector and contribute to its economic growth. He further assured that he would consider stakeholder input in a forthcoming management retreat to propel the industry forward.
