The Ivory Coast’s main opposition leader and the second president to lead the West African nation after independence, Henri Konan Bedie, died at a hospital in the commercial capital Abidjan on Tuesday
This information was revealed by a relative of the late former President , he served as president from 1993 until his ouster in 1999, when he was overthrown in coup.
He also ran a against his long-time political rival President Alassane Ouattara in elections in 2020, he was 86 years old at the time
