Nigeria’s governing All Progressives Congress (APC) will mete out the appropriate punishment to one of its founders, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has dominated the news cycle all week long for an infamous meltdown in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
While making his final pitch before party delegates, presidential aspirant Tinubu took aim at President Muhammadu Buhari, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, reminding all three that he brought them into national prominence.
The National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Adamu, has said the party is not happy with Tinubu for his outburst, while announcing that the 70-year-old might be sanctioned by the party.
“We may punish Tinubu for his utterances against the president,” Adamu said while briefing newsmen at the APC headquarters in Abuja.
Tinubu has since said his remarks, delivered in the Yoruba language, were taken out of context by the media.
The APC Chairman also announced that all presidential aspirants are scheduled to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari tonight and that no presidential aspirant has been disqualified from contesting at the party’s presidential primary slated for Monday 6 to Wednesday 8.
On statutory delegates voting during the primary election, Adamu said the party has appealed the judgment, meaning that the statutory delegates will not participate in the upcoming presidential primary.
