Hamisu Shamdozhi, the abducted son of the traditional ruler of Bukpe in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, Alhaji Hussaini Shamdozhi, has regained freedom after 10 months in captivity.
The three other residents, David, Shekwomwaza and Isaac abducted alongside, also regained their freedom.
It would be recalled that on February 4, 2023, kidnappers invaded the monarch’s private residence in Bukpe and abducted his wife, two sons and three other villagers.
According to City & Crime, the kidnappers on March 25, 2023 freed the monarch’s wife, Sadiya Shamdozhi and one of his sons, Osama after N2.5 million was reportedly paid to them, leaving behind the monarch’s remaining son, Hamisu Shamdozhi and three other residents in their den.
However, the monarch confirmed the release of his remaining son and three of his subjects through telephone on Monday, noting that the victims were freed on Sunday around 7:12pm.
He explained that another N2 million ransom, including a bag of rice, beans and wine and some drugs were purchased for the kidnappers before the victims were released.
“It was just yesterday around 7:12pm when Hamisu alongside three of my subjects were finally freed from a forest in Kogi State.
“In fact, I could not recognize my son again when he arrived home because of the traumatic experience in the hands of the kidnappers. His hair had overgrown,” he said.
