While attempting to steal transformer cables in the early hours of Friday, an unidentified man was electrocuted on the premises of the Niger State Printing Press in Minna, Niger State.
The corpse of the man was discovered by some staff of the printing press hanging on the transformer, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.
Confirming the incident to reporters, Aminu Ubandoma, the head of the legal unit at the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, stated that the company had been receiving several reports of transformers being vandalized.

He mentioned that the company was collaborating with security agencies, particularly the police, to ensure that the rate of transformer vandalism was reduced to the lowest possible level.
The spokesperson of the Niger Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, also confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred around the old secretariat area on the premises of the printing press.
Abiodun revealed that the body had been deposited at Minna General Hospital, and efforts were underway to locate the deceased’s relatives. The matter is currently under investigation in collaboration with the AEDC.
