A man from Florida who shot his dog in the face following an alleged biting incident involving his fiancée has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by 42 months of probation.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting gunshots at Jamier Lee-Bright’s residence in April 2022. Upon arriving, deputies discovered Lee-Bright cleaning blood off his back patio using a garden hose.
His dog, Rocky, was found alive but with two gunshot wounds and covered in blood. Lee-Bright confessed to shooting the dog in the head, claiming it had bitten his fiancée, although prosecutors stated that she did not sustain any injuries.

Thankfully, Rocky underwent surgery and made a complete recovery before being adopted by Hayden Ore, an employee of the sheriff’s office involved in Lee-Bright’s arrest.
Lee-Bright pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty and tampering with physical evidence. As part of his sentence, he will be placed on an animal abuse registry and prohibited from having any contact with animals.
Additionally, he is required to undergo a mental health evaluation and surrender his firearm to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Rick Staly expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that justice had been served to Rocky’s shooter. He emphasized that resorting to violence against pets is never an acceptable solution.
