Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has broken it’s silence over the alleged death of its member.
The church refuted claims that an elderly female worshipper died at its Prayer City Camp in Ogun State during a church programme.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by Collins Edomaruse, the media aide to the church’s General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the woman passed away at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, where she was immediately taken and not within the church premises.
Furthermore, Edomaruse noted that the deceased, who was present at the Prayer City camp for the service on November 2nd, 2023, appeared frail and was moved from the service to the clinic within the church premises and was subsequently transferred to OOUTH, Sagamu.
Following the sudden demise of the elderly woman, OOUTH (hospital) released a statement acknowledging the church as a public place, while commending the efforts of the church in responding to the sick person by bringing her to the hospital.
Also, the matron at the Prayer City Clinic, Mrs. Bisi Adewumi, detailed the events leading up to the woman’s transfer to the hospital, where she passed on.
The statement quoted the matron at the Prayer City Clinic, Mrs Bisi Adewumi, saying that the deceased was “brought in to the clinic on the 2nd of November 2023, around 5.30 p.m. as an emergency case from the auditorium, during Thursday evening service”.
“On physical observation inside an ambulance, we recorded pallor+++…that she was pale (short of blood)”.
“She looked cachexia and emaciated, hence blood pressure was quickly checked inside the ambulance; result: B/P71/55 P115, Temp 36. oc, because of the pallor+++ that requires immediate blood”.
“The ambulance driver and a nurse were instructed to rush her to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, where urgent intervention and investigations could be carried out”.
“The report received from the nurse at the teaching hospital indicated that the deceased was attended to in the ambulance as an emergency for preliminary investigations”.
“She later gave up there and her remains were deposited at the morgue of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital.”
Edomaruse stated, “The ministry may not be able to ascertain the medical situation of everyone who desires to seek God’s face within its facility”.
MFM’s media aide equally emphasized that the church camp is a place frequented by worshippers and seekers from around the world.
He further clarified that the ministry has made provision for first aid and offers duty of care to anyone in need of medical attention on its premises, adding that attributing the unfortunate demise of the worshipper at the teaching hospital to the ministry is a case of misrepresentation and ignorance of the facts.
Additionally, the ministry noted that its aims is to provide a divine encounter platform and teaches worshippers how to connect with the God through the Bible, which has led to several testimonies over the years.
