Marlian Records boss, Afeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, is taking a stand against allegations made by Nigerian record producer, Solomon Oyeniyi, better known as K-Solo, which he perceives as defamatory.
K-Solo recently made some startling claims during an interview on Channels TV’s “Rubbin’ Minds” program, stating that Naira Marley played a role in the tragic death of his former signee, Mohbad. On September 17, K-Solo asserted, “Naira Marley is involved in Mohbad’s death. He cannot tell me he is not involved. He has a hand in his death.”
In response to these allegations, Naira Marley’s media team issued a statement on October 26, asserting that these accusations have significantly damaged the artist’s reputation, especially since they were made without substantial evidence. The statement emphasized the importance of concrete proof when leveling accusations against Naira Marley, both in the court of public opinion and in a court of law.
Naira Marley, who has consistently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s tragic passing, has called on K-Solo to provide evidence to support his claims. The statement also made it clear that they intend to pursue legal action against K-Solo for defamation of character. This action aims to prevent individuals with negative intentions from wrongfully implicating the artist in an offense he did not commit and tarnishing his image.
The situation between Naira Marley and K-Solo is a contentious one, and it remains to be seen how it will unfold in the legal realm.
“The legal team representing Naira Marley will be initiating legal action against K-Solo for defamation of character. It is essential to emphasize that making unfounded allegations and false statements can have far-reaching consequences.
“Accusations of this nature not only tarnish the image of the accused but also perpetuate baseless claims that have spread like wildfire because elements like K-Solo and others (especially two known actresses) have spearheaded the campaign of calumny against the person of Naira for reasons best known to them.
“In the past, we kept quiet because we wanted to honour the memory of the dead and honour the relationship with him but we realized many people are setting a negative agenda and spreading a negative narrative against Naira Marley. We will no longer fold our hands and watch people with a negative agenda drag Naira Marley.
“From this moment on, anyone who alleges must present concrete proof not only on the Internet but also in a Court of Law. Every falsehood and rumor will be met with severity and the full weight of the law.”
