Nigeria Air Force has killed over 100 bandits after several airstrikes of the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
It was gathered that on Tuesday, that the bandits in troops were migrating from a forest in Zamfara State to Kebbi State with the evil intention of attacking villages within the area.
It was reported that a military source confirmed the incident, while explaining that the bandits got a wind of the troops’ presence along the route, which made them to retreat to the Dansadau axis of Maru Local Government Area of the state.
However, the Nigerian Air Force took action by launching its airstrikes, targeting the terrorist group, over 100 bandits were burnt with their motorcycles while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.
Furthermore, a mass burial was conducted for the slain terrorists in the Sangeko forest in Niger State and Babban Doka in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesperson of the Operation Hadarin Daji, confirmed the airstrikes, adding that the number of casualties is yet to be ascertained.
Also, Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Nigerian Air Force, confirmed the airstrikes in Zamfara State.
Although, he could not confirm the number of casualties.
He stated, “Yes, indeed, air strikes were conducted on a number of mobile terrorists but I can’t confirm numbers to you”.
In the north, Zamfara is one of the states terrorized by bandits activities. Other states include; Niger, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina.
