The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has decided to put on hold, the intended suspension of Glo subscribers from calling MTN lines for 21 days.
This decision follows a resolution between the telecom giants, as announced in a statement on Thursday by Reuben Mouka, the Director of Public Affairs at NCC.
Originally, NCC had given the green light to MTN Nigerian Communications Plc. to initiate a phased disconnection of Globacom Limited starting from January 18, 2024, citing a prolonged interconnection debt dispute.
However, with the recent agreement between the parties, the commission has opted to delay the disconnection for the next 21 days, starting from January 17, 2024.
The NCC, Quest Times further reports, expressed satisfaction in the resolution and stated, “The commission is pleased to announce that the parties have now reached an agreement to resolve all outstanding issues between them.”
While the commission expects both MTN and Glo to settle their disputes within the stipulated 21 days, it emphasized the importance of clearing interconnect debts, considering them a crucial aspect of complying with regulatory obligations for all licensees.
