Netizens have expressed outrage over the revelations made by Nigerian female soldier, Ruth Ogunleye, who has accused senior officers of harassment.
Quest Times recalls that Ogunleye, known as @ogunleyeruthsavage1 on TikTok, alleged that Col. I. B. Abdulkareem, Col. G. S. Ogor, and Brig. Gen. I. B. Solebo have made her Army life unbearable.
Ogunleye claimed Abdulkareem attempted to assault her and orchestrated her removal from her residence, confining her to a psychiatric hospital.
She further alleged he hindered her career due to rejected romantic advances, freezing her account for a year.
In a video, she pleaded for support, acknowledging potential consequences.
Social media has become abuzz with calls for justice, with users demanding the dismissal of the accused after thorough investigations. See comments below:
Its_ereko: “She should be protected, please. Dem fit to come for her different ways. We know this country.”
iamtundegold: “Is it by force? If a woman refuses you, must you subject her to ridicule and animal life? After all, there are many other women out there who will happily open hands to receive you.”
Aginas: “(It is) brave of her to speak out. Many are suffering the same fate. Her revelation might save many others like her.”
hansatua: “Imagine u serving your father’s land and all your colleague could see is how to get into your behind. So sad! The Nigerian military should protect this woman.”
BigNkay: “I love her courage. I hope they won’t turn it on her and get her sacked. To say the least, female security personnel across all the bodies go through a lot of sexual molestation.”
Amidst public outcry, the Nigerian Army released a statement urging patience during the investigative process.
The Army asserted commitment to upholding integrity and morals, promising appropriate action based on investigation findings.
