In a heartfelt response to the recent tragic incident, Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate and former vice president of Nigeria, has voiced his concern over the killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar in Abuja.
Atiku urged a critical review of the nation’s security system to tackle the rising threat of kidnappers and bandits.
Expressing deep sorrow, Atiku highlighted the urgent need for a strengthened security architecture to counter the unchecked criminal activities endangering citizens.
He emphasized the importance of rescuing the remaining hostages and advocated for swift, decisive action from security agencies.
“I am saddened by reports of the brutal murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who was abducted with her siblings and has been in the custody of their abductors for almost two weeks.
“This is yet another reminder that kidnappers and bandits are operating unhindered in our country.
“The security architecture needs to be rejigged to the extent that it stems the free rein of criminal elements and guarantees the safety of lives and property,” Atiku stated in an official release on Sunday.
Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, a 400-level biological science student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was abducted along with her siblings.
Atiku mourned her tragic death and called for a comprehensive security strategy to curb criminal elements.
Quest Times also learned that the perpetrators had earlier demanded a ransom of N60 million, which tragically escalated to N100 million after Nabeeha’s murder.
The incident has sparked public outcry on social media, with Nigerians demanding justice for Nabeeha and the safe release of her siblings.
In response to the situation, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reassured the public that efforts are underway to rescue the abducted individuals.
He emphasized the importance of obtaining necessary information to facilitate the safe rescue of the remaining hostages.
This heartbreaking incident follows the recent abduction of Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, further underscoring the urgent need for a comprehensive security overhaul in the country.
