In a historic ceremony today, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo officially became the fifth democratically-elected Governor of Kogi state.
The swearing-in took place at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre in Lokoja, the state capital, with the state Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Mejabi, administering the oath of office.
Amidst cheers from a massive crowd of well-wishers, Ododo took the oath at precisely 2:27 pm.
Earlier, his Deputy, Elder Joel Salifu Oyibo, had taken his turn at 2:18 pm, setting the stage for this momentous occasion.
Notable figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, were present to witness the historic event, marking the official transition from the tenure of former Governor Yahaya Bello.
