Former Super Eagles of Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr, has reportedly been appointed as Benin’s new head coach and will resume in his new role on February 21, 2023.
The Franco-German was appointed on Tuesday, following the meeting of members of the Executive Committee of the Benin Football Federation.
Rohr lead the Super Eagles to win third-place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Egypt.
He was relieved of his position as the Super Eagles head coach in December, 2021.
The then NFF President, Amaju Pinnick, cited failure of the 68-year-old coach to enforce discipline in the team, adding that there were so many things not known to the public on the matter.
