President of the Nigeria Workers Group (NWG), Dr. David Kayode Ehindero, applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sacking all Service Chiefs, including the Inspector General of Police and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service.
In a telephone interview with THE QUEST TIMES, Ehindero reacted to a question about the firing of the security chiefs by urging the president to suppress his feelings of emotion and connection in the face of failure.
Dr. Ehindero who doubles as the Executive Director of the Nigerian Workforce Strategy and Enlightenment Centre (NIWOSEC) said ” The decision of Mr. President to appoint new Service Chiefs is a good omen because we have a new government in place.
” He shouldn’t allow emotion or personal attachment in the face of failure.
” We need new Strategy to fight terrorism and security challenges in Nigeria. And this is a total departure from the past government where even non-performing officers were left to be wallowing in the office where they’re not bringing any results.
” This is my perception of how the government should operate having your team grounded to do the job because you don’t have to sleep for six months before displaying your team.
According to him he’s surely going by the strategy put in place Mr. President already knows who his Ministers are but just putting concluding plans by consulting one to two other groups.
He said, ” It is a clear indication that M r. President is working because you can’t deliver true dividends of Democracy without teamwork. It’s also a departure from the past when the service Chiefs were working but not together.
Dr. Ehindero appealed that the President should allow for performance evaluation when it comes to security without compromising at all costs.
Meanwhile, the NWG boss equally applauded the president for the dissolutions of the Boards of Directors of the Federal Ministry, Department and parastatals.
He argued injecting new officers will strengthen the parastatals and agencies of government who will be ready to tailor their activities in accordance with the President’s mandate.
