Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Edo State, has expressed his relief and gratitude for winning his senatorial ambition.
He acknowledged that many governors who aspired to become senators had failed, and he would have felt embarrassed if he had suffered the same fate.
Addressing his audience at at a post-inauguration/thank you party in his hometown of Iyamho, Etsako, Edo State, Senator Oshiomhole humorously remarked that his opponents would have celebrated his defeat by locking his door and breaking his bones, causing him great distress if he had lost the election.

The senator extended his appreciation to the people of Edo North for voting him in as their representative in the Senate after his tenure as governor. Furthermore, he thanked them for supporting President Bola Tinubu during the presidential election, highlighting that Edo-North was the sole district in Edo State where President Tinubu secured a victory.
He reaffirmed his commitment to effectively represent Edo North, emphasizing his responsibility to ensure that the state benefited greatly from President Tinubu’s administration. He expressed his gratitude to the voters, acknowledging that even after leaving office seven years ago, they still demonstrated their trust in him by giving him their votes.
“Throughout the election campaign, I urged my supporters to cast their votes for President Tinubu,” he said, and he reiterated this sentiment during his speech. He proudly stated that in each of the six Local Government Areas, both he and President Tinubu had emerged victorious in every ward.
The senator promised to present the election results to President Tinubu as a testament to the support and endorsement he received from the people of Edo North. He assured the crowd that President Tinubu would bring about transformative change in Nigeria, just as he had done in Lagos.
Quoting President Tinubu’s statement about Edo not being Lagos, Senator Oshiomhole asserted that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Edo would not only be comparable to Lagos but even surpass it in development and progress. He encouraged his constituents to disregard those who believed Edo could not be controlled by President Tinubu, as he humorously declared that President Tinubu was now the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces.
