The release of a new single by Nigerian musicians Falz and Vector, has elicited reactions from the public.
The song titled “Yakubu” appears to ridicule the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, and insinuates that he was involved in fraudulent activities during the recently held general election.
In the lyrics, the singers also reference some of the excuses given by the electoral umpire regarding the delayed upload of presidential election results on their portal.
Following the release, Nigerians trooped to social media to commend Falz for always singing national issues and consciousness.
Here are some reactions
@Sports_Doctor2 Falz is actually our Generation’s FELA who calls out the Government with his talent and craft. And he’s been CONSISTENT!!!! Guys we’re streaming Falz @falzthebahdguy latest single “YAKUBU” until his voice cracks!!!!
@novieverest Falz didn’t just make Yakubu Mahmood’s evil known all over, he just put the judiciary on the spot. That guy is the African Giant. My respect to Vector. All eyes on the judiciary. Thanks Falz.
@royzkingin Everybody no care about the country again, they don begin stupid stan fights. “Falz is the real Africa giant” he don drop Mr Yakubu, sweet song wey dey address electoral malpractice, the song never enter top 100. Shey una no dey craze like this?
DanielRegha Falz called out “Mr Yakubu” in his new song ft Vector but didn’t address candidates, their aides, Men of God, traditional leaders & others who in one way or another contributed to the political instability plus electoral violence; Enough with the bias, hold everyone accountable.
@TemisanEA Lmao Mahmood Yakubu has gained eternal notoriety. Thank you Falz and Vector.
@elonchorch At least when generations to come watch Mr. Yakubu by Falz, they will ask questions then the history of INEC chairman, MC Oluomo, CJN, and the connivance of the Police will be told.
@unclemidetush Falz x Vector on ‘Yakubu’ is the actual Nigerian solidarity chant. My G.O.A.T only drops rendition on the deep-rooted culture of political and economic corruption but never walks the talk. Intentionality, Folarin Falana
@ozii_baba Falz is a national treasure. He ensured that no Nigerian both living and yet to be born will forget INEC and Mahmood Yakubu

@danieliyam You guys don’t understand the scale of what Falz did. He has historically entrenched Mohammed Yakubu’s name as a fraudster who rigged elections in Nigeria. That’s art.
