As Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) visited the ancient town of Ibadan, Oyo State to meet statutory delegates and key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, several party supporters trooped out to chant his name and endorse him for the ticket.

As the vice president’s motorcade moved across the streets of the town to the Kola Daisi Civic Centre, Ibadan, a crowd was seen chanting his name saying “Iwo lo le se” (meaning you are the one that can do it), with traditional drums and attires.

While the vice president was in his motorcade, people were heard in loud voices saying: “Osinbajo is our man for 2023. He’s the only one who can solve our problems in Nigeria.”

As he entered the venue of the stakeholders’ meeting, the audience shouted in unison: “Osinbajo lo kan” (Osinbajo is next president).”

While Osinbajo’s motorcade was about to move, the voice of the Yoruba-speaking Ibadan residents grew louder, with many saying they want the APC to give him the ticket for the 2023 presidential election.

Party members say they have benefited from several initiatives of the vice president including schemes like MSME Clinics, Tech Hubs, N-Power etc.

One of them who identify as Mr. Bolu Adewale said: “I have never seen a Vice President since I have been following politics since 1999. I think Osinbajo is very different. He’s hardworking and passionate about the masses.”

He also said he’s benefited from a lot of things the VP has championed in the past, which explains why he joined other students to welcome the vice president to the city.

Another resident, Wale said: “If the APC wants to win the election next year, the ticket should go to Osinbajo. I will vote for him in Eagle Square as a party delegate myself when the time comes. If our party is smart enough, Osinbajo should be our presidential candidate.”
