On Thursday morning, a correctional vehicle which belongs to the Nigerian Correctional Service, crashed at the popular Emir’s Market (Oja-Oba) in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Quest Times gathered that the incident happened in the early hours of the day, when the correctional bus was transporting some suspects to courts on high speed.
The accident left seven people injured, the people hit were mostly commercial motorcycle riders, who had parked by the roadside.
Afterwards, the victims were immediately rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for emergency treatment.
The ‘okada’ riders association and authorities of the Ilorin Correctional Service has denied the claims of four people loosing their lives in the accident.
The accident caused an angry mob to attack and vandalise the correctional bus.
Consequently, the chaos led to the deployment of back up, security men were drawn from the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) who calmed the areas around the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin and blocked the roads leading to Oja Oba, Isale Oja, Idi Ape and Ago Markets.
