A Physical Challenged Lawmaker Representing Hong Constituency of Adamawa State Assembly, Rt Hon Bathiya Wesley has emerged as the speaker of the 8th Assembly of the state.
While making his opening speech at floor of the House, Hon. Bathiya said “Disability is a mindset syndrome, if one sees himself as one he remains like that until he or she dies without impacting his world.
“We both served our state with all sense of responsibility and give selfless service to you all as my partners in creating laws and developing ideas that will foster unity, peace, and progress of our state.
“Consider me one of your servant leaders who our interests in developing our various constituents I will never allow the executive to trample it down under whichever guise.
“I will do my best to be fair to you all as we all rob our minds in bringing ideas that will bring unity and peace in our relationship with the executive without allowing them to interfere with our statutory duties,”
Bathiya is among the people Living with Disability (PWD) after a keen contest was today inaugurated to be the House’s speaker.
The ranking member who return elected under the People’s Democratic party this medium gathered worked his way by consulting critical stakeholders and lobbying his fellow lawmakers.
He revealed that he is a child of Destiny and has never in his lifetime regarded himself as a physical challenge that cannot contribute meaningfully to the development of the Adamawa state.
Bathiya while thanking the Governor of the state, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for allowing fair play to all to contest, he appreciated his colleagues for allowing him to serve them.
He promised to work with them in an open doors policy and be fair to all of them by carrying them along in whatever issues regarding the leadership of the House.
Many people consider Bathiya to be one of the best-performing legislators, and he will undoubtedly give it his all to support Governor Fintiri as she leads the state into a new era of development.
