The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a total of 311 individuals – 297 men and 14 women, at a bandits’ hideout named “Game House” in Gidan Dambe, Dei Dei, Abuja.
The raid, which occurred late Sunday night, led to the discovery of various weapons including guns, ammunition, swords, knives, axes, daggers, as well as motorcycles and numerous mobile phones.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh, revealed the details during a press briefing on Monday at the Intelligence Response Team unit in Guzape, Abuja.
Igweh explained that based on credible intelligence, the police swiftly acted upon the information, storming the “Game House” within 20 minutes, where the suspects were apprehended.
“We received reliable information that bandits and kidnappers often gather at a spot called ‘Game House’ in Gidan Dambe, Dei Dei, to unwind after their criminal activities. Our Operation Velvet swiftly moved in and nabbed 297 men and 14 women,” Igweh stated.
During the operation, a pistol with ammunition was confiscated from one individual who claimed to be a Department of State Services (DSS) personnel. Additionally, motorcycles, narcotics, and items suspected to be stolen were recovered.
