The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of three Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, Aji Janga, and Adeleke Bode, to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General of Police.
They are expected to fill the vacancies left by the retirement of three DIGs who represented the geopolitical zones of the north central, north east, and north west.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC’s spokesperson.
The PSC noted that the confirmation of the new DIG appointments ensured the continuation of the Nigerian police’s specified succession policy.
Hafiz Inuwa, the Force Secretary, will take over for retired DIG Mustapha Dan-Daura in the North-West position. Dan-Dura announced his retirement on January 15 of this year.
Aji Janga of the North-East will replace DIG Zanna Ibrahim, who retired on November 26, 2022, while Adeleke Bode of the North-Central will replace DIG Sanusi Lemu, who retired on January 31, this year.
The new appointments were part of the decisions of the reconvened 18th plenary of the commission which held in Abuja on Thursday, 2nd and Friday 3rd February, 2023 and chaired by Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, acting chairperson of the PSC.
