As the FIFA World Cup approaches, Qatar has unveiled eight stadiums for the tournament, which includes Stadium 974–unique for its features.
Formerly known as Ras Abu Aboud, Stadium 974 reflects the number of shipping containers used in building the stadium.
The number 974 is also Qatar’s international subscriber dialing code which makes it much more important.
The most interesting feature about Stadium 974 is that it can be fully disassembled after use and is the first fully reassembled stadium in the history of World Cups.
The stadium has been constructed using shipping containers and modular steel frames, reflecting Qatar’s maritime history.
Stadium 974 will be the only World Cup venue which will not have the cooling technology. It doesn’t need one, given its advanced design.
The stadium will host the match between Syria and UAE on the opening day and will host a total of six matches during the tournament.
Stadium 974 will play host to seven 2022 World Cup matches, up to the Round of 16 stage.
