Manager Michael Beale is confident that the addition of Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers will bring a strong sense of “personality and leadership” to the Rangers squad.
Dessers, who recently joined from Cremonese, becomes the sixth new player to arrive at Ibrox this summer. The talented forward signed a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, pending international clearance.
Expressing his satisfaction with the acquisition, Beale spoke highly of Dessers’ experience playing in Holland, Belgium, and Italy, as well as in European competitions. The manager emphasized the specific qualities that the club was seeking, both on and off the pitch, and believes that Dessers perfectly fits the desired profile.
“During our discussions, we extensively talked about his alignment with our style of play and the other forwards in our squad,” Beale stated in an interview with the official Rangers website.
“At 28 years old, he brings a valuable blend of personality and leadership to our team. Cyriel demonstrated tremendous determination to make this transfer happen, and we are delighted to welcome him and his family to Rangers. He will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to our squad, and I am eager to work closely with him in the seasons ahead.”

Born in Belgium, Dessers has enjoyed spells in the Belgian Pro-League with OH Leuven, Lokeren, and Genk. He also had successful stints with Utrecht, Heracles Almelo, and Feyenoord in the Netherlands before joining Cremonese last year.
Expressing his delight at joining Rangers, Dessers expressed his relief and excitement at completing the move.
“It has been a challenging journey to get here, with some long and stressful days, but I am overjoyed to finally be a part of this club,” Dessers shared.
“The club’s rich history, passionate fans, and magnificent stadium are impressive, but what really drew me in was the vision and plans outlined by Michael Beale. I firmly believe that his ideas, both on and off the pitch, align perfectly with what I can contribute to the team. I am genuinely thrilled to be here.”
With the arrival of Cyrill Dessers, Rangers have bolstered their attacking options, and fans eagerly await the Nigerian forward’s contributions to the team’s success in the coming seasons.
