The Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN) has strongly refuted the recent BBC documentary accusing the late founder, Temitope Babatunde Joshua (TB Joshua), of various crimes, including rape.
In an official statement, SCOAN asserted that the documentary was baseless and criticized the BBC for featuring individuals unknown to the church.
SCOAN’s Public Affairs Director, Mr Dare Adejumo, emphasized that the BBC’s investigative unit, Africa Eye, deviated from ethical journalism, turning itself into a tool for a biased agenda.
The church highlighted the importance of fairness and objectivity in journalism, condemning the BBC for compromising these principles.
“BBC has compromised these lofty principles by descending into fictional narratives and propaganda, thus turning itself into a weapon for a hatchet job as gangsters in the gab of journalism with a destructive ulterior motive for personal gains against a perceived enemy,” the statement read in part.
Moreover, it questioned the credibility of the BBC’s sources, alleging that some were disgruntled individuals, including relics of homosexual and lesbian associates.
SCOAN expressed disappointment in the BBC’s failure to approach the church for a firsthand experience instead of relying on questionable testimonies.
The church vehemently denied the allegations against TB Joshua, emphasizing the positive impact his ministry had on thousands of lives worldwide.
It criticized the BBC for not acknowledging the countless miracles, reconciled families, and restored destinies attributed to TB Joshua’s work.
Quest Times further reports that SCOAN argued that the BBC’s accusations were illogical, insulting, and aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the late founder. The church questioned the sudden awakening of the interviewees, suggesting that the timing raised doubts about the credibility of their claims.
SCOAN also accused the BBC of attempting to besmirch TB Joshua’s legacy, insinuating that the motive behind the documentary might be envy towards the church’s continued growth.
It expressed gratitude that the report exonerated TB Joshua’s wife while dismissing the entire documentary as “illogical, irritating, incomprehensible, unfathomable, and satanically dubious and malicious.”
