A suicide bomber detonated explosives killing over 20 worshippers on Monday morning at a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan’s northwestern city.
According to reports, Pakistani police said no fewer than 96 worshippers in the mosque were severely wounded.
Saddique Khan, a senior police official in Peshawar who provided the latest casualty figures, stated that no one has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
Meanwhile, authorities have blamed the Pakistani Taliban who has frequently executed militant and suicide attacks.
According to police officials and witnesses, the bomber struck inside the mosque, where about 150 people were praying on Monday morning.
The bomber detonated his suicide vest while worshipers were praying inside, including many police officers from nearby police stations.
