In the wake of the 2023 Presidential Elections and the subsequent legal battles, SWAGA’23, a South West pressure group that played a pivotal role in President Bola Tinubu’s electoral victory, has issued a resounding call for unity and progress in Nigeria.
The group emphasized the importance of working together to elevate Nigeria to a leadership position on the global stage in the 21st century.
The call was made in a statement signed by National Chairman, Sen Dayo Adeyeye and National Secretary Hon Bosun Oladele
With the judgment from the Supreme Court, SWAGA’23 celebrated the affirmation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the rightfully elected President and Commander of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. They underscored his remarkable leadership qualities, acknowledging his ability to transform challenging situations into opportunities, a quality recognized early on by the group when they initiated the journey towards his presidential aspirations in 2019.
“We recognized his ingenuity as a leader and his one-of-a-kind ability to turn bad situations into better ones based on his wealth of experience early enough to begin the journey for his ascension to the Presidency,” SWAGA’23 stated.
The pressure group firmly believes that President Tinubu is the leader Nigeria needs at this critical juncture, describing him as someone who “knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way,” in the words of John C. Maxwell.
SWAGA’23 extended their heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed their hopes for the success of his “Renewed Hope Agenda” for Nigeria. They also commended the judiciary for its diligent handling of legal cases at all levels despite various challenges and commended the positive evolution of democracy and its supporting institutions.
In a call for national unity, SWAGA’23 urged Nigerians to be patient with the reforms introduced by President Tinubu, citing progress in the economy, infrastructure, social welfare programs, and institutional reforms. They called on opposition parties to collaborate with the government to build a better Nigeria for current and future generations, emphasizing the importance of realizing legitimate aspirations in a unified nation.
Finally, SWAGA’23 encouraged President Tinubu to remain steadfast in his commitment to renewing hope for a more functional and progressively advancing Nigeria.
