Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, secured his second term in office on Monday, with the swearing-in ceremony attended by political heavyweights, Bola Tinubu and Olusegun Obasanjo.
Quest Times reports that Uzodimma, elected on the All Progressives Congress platform, took the oath at 3:47 pm, joined by Deputy Governor Lady Chinyere Ekomaru at 3:30 pm, both officiated by Chief Judge Theresa Chikeka.
The notable gathering included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Governors Dapo Abiodun, Alex Otti, and Siminalayi Fubara.
Former governors Rochas Okorocha and Ikedi Ohakim, along with traditional leaders like the Ooni of Ife and the Obi of Onitsha, also graced the occasion.
Expressing gratitude for the support in the 2023 election, Uzodimma promised intensified infrastructure development, emphasizing the significance of community involvement.
“I must deliver shared posterity mantra through massive infrastructure development in the state. I assure you that the success recorded in the last four years of my administration will certainly be dwarfed by the success that will be recorded in the second term,” he said.
He introduced the Community Economic Development Initiative for rural areas, urging each community to own a significant project.
Focusing on infrastructure and workers’ welfare, Uzodimma pledged prompt salary payments, calling on the people to actively contribute to building the state.
He promised an investor-friendly environment, aiming to transform Imo State into the industrial hub of the South-East in his second term.
