President Bola Tinubu, in a recent statement, shared his elation over the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s (PEPT) decision to uphold his election as president.
Speaking during a gathering in India, he revealed that the verdict had left him so excited that he couldn’t sleep on Wednesday night.
Describing Wednesday night as “a night of great expectations,” Tinubu eagerly awaited confirmation of his job security. He acknowledged the challenges of the time difference between Nigeria and India, which had kept him up late into the afternoon due to the incessant phone calls he received.

Tinubu stated that he was “waiting anxiously to see if my job was secured or not. So, from that, out of the excitement of the victory, I couldn’t sleep,” he added.
Tinubu apologized for his late arrival at the meeting and humorously referred to the post-victory euphoria as a “hangover” that he and his team were enjoying. He then shifted the focus of the gathering away from politics, emphasizing that their purpose was to present a vision for Nigeria’s future.
“When I looked at the time and the time difference between Nigeria and India is another problem. Then, my phone won’t stop ringing until I switched off very late afternoon.
“So, it was a very challenging day after; that was a hangover that I enjoyed and hope we all appreciate why we are starting late. Please forgive us.”
He highlighted Nigeria’s wealth, diversity, and dynamic culture as assets that could be harnessed for the prosperity of its people. Tinubu expressed his unwavering confidence in achieving this goal and cited the presence of influential individuals, some arriving on private jets, as a testament to the country’s potential.
“We are here not to talk politics, but to present a future to you. The future of a country that is so rich, endowed, highly populated, very dynamic and unique in its culture. We are unique in our tradition, unique in our ethnicity, a country that we are determined to make its prosperity possible if only we use that God-given diversity for the prosperity of Nigerians.
“And we are sure to do that. That is what I am standing here to assure you. We are not in doubt; we can do it. And you heard the names of people that I mentioned, many of them are here in their private jets.”
