A motor boy trapped under a fully loaded 40ft container in an accident in Lagos State, has been rescued by the operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Thursday, while the driver died on the spot.
According to a statement signed by the agency’s director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq, the accident happened around Wharf Road, opposite Area B Police Command outward Apapa, Lagos.
One of the LASTMA officials, Egbetola Sulaiman, leading the rescue team, confirmed that the fatal accident involved a fully loaded 40ft container and a stationed tipper truck with no registration number.

It was further confirmed that preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the container while on top speed, lost control, ramming into another stationed tipper truck with a tire problem.
Also stated was that “LASTMA officials and other emergency responders were able to rescue a trapped motor boy while the driver of the loaded container died instantly.”
The rescued motor boy was immediately rushed to the nearby General Hospital at Apapa for medical treatment, while the body of the dead driver was at the Area B Police Command.
The Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Police, and Nigerian Port Authority were other emergency responders present at the scene.
Truck drivers were warned by the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, to always consider other road users and be very careful when driving.
