The Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal, which convened in Jalingo, has officially upheld Dr. Agbu Kefas as the Governor of Taraba State.
The tribunal, consisting of three members, ruled against the petition brought forth by the New Nigerian People’s Party and its candidate, Prof. Sani Yahaya, citing a lack of merit in their claims.
In a recent development, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has made a decisive decision regarding the petition brought forth by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the election victory of Governor Ahmed Aliyu in Sokoto State. The PDP candidate, Sa’idu Umar, contested the outcome of the March 18 election.
Governor Aliyu, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged as the victor, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). However, Umar raised concerns about the qualification of Aliyu’s deputy and alleged electoral irregularities, prompting the petition.
On a Saturday, the three-member panel, led by Justice Huruna Mshelia, delivered their verdict. They found that the petitioner failed to substantiate the allegations convincingly.
