Troops from the 93 Battalion, part of the 6 Bridget of the Nigerian Army, have captured a suspected female kidnapper in Taraba State.
They also nabbed a notorious gunrunner who was supplying arms and ammunition to criminals in Taraba State and other areas.
According to Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, spokesperson for the Bridget, the troops acted on reliable information about the activities of the arms dealer, Joshua Dutse Idah, aged 45.
The troops successfully apprehended Dutse in Ibbi town, Ibbi Local Government Area of the state, while he was en route to Kaduna State. Upon searching his vehicle, a blue Volkswagen Sharon with registration number Rivers SKN-390AA, they discovered 1 PK machine gun, 399 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, and 3 AK-47 rifle magazines.
Dutse confessed to planning to deliver AK-47 rifles to Katsina State for which he had already received partial payment of N300,000.
In another operation, a suspected female kidnapper, Janet Igohia, aged 31, was arrested in Chanchangi area, Takum LGA, after collecting N1.5 million as ransom payment for an abducted victim.
Igohia disclosed her connections to various criminals, including her marriage to Voryor Gata, a former second-in-command to the late Gana Terwase.
Furthermore, troops deployed in Mararaba Baissa community, Donga LGA, detained two suspected gunrunners, Alhaji Adamu Damisa (40 years old) and Usman Isah (44 years old), who were allegedly involved in extrajudicial killings and cattle rustling, along with the seizure of N600,000.
