Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke better known as Davido, has hinted on why he is seen as the ‘King of Afrobeats.
QUEST TIMES reports that the DMW boss in a video shared on his Instagram page, highlighted his massive effect on the African music landscape.
In the clip, Davido was crowned the “King of Afrobeats”, and he gleefully exclaimed that it was a taste of hard-earned glory and the sweet fruits of patience thus, he proudly trumpeted that he had notched up respect and kudos in the Western hemisphere.
The sit-down with ABC News video also had him speak about the universal allure of the Afrobeats genre.
Delving into his music style and way of life, Davido explained that most of his tunes marched to the beat of African culture, but his lifestyle and penchant for living it up aligned with Western vibes.
He also mentioned that during his formative years, he was influenced by both Nigerian music trailblazers like 2face, Psquare, and D’banj, and American rappers such as 50 Cent, Ja Rule, Nelly, and Ludacris.

However, while in college, Davido said he made the life-changing call to return to his roots in Nigeria and hop on the booming Afrobeats bandwagon.
He captioned the post thus; “Seeing the way Afrobeats has changed the world and the impact we’ve had in music is beautiful! To see how respected and cherished our culture has become makes me so proud. Let’s make sure we protect it and keep building a borderless music world @abcnevws”
