Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, has endorsed the Atiku/Okowa presidential bid.
Jonathan revealed this when a PDP delegation led by vice presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday evening.
There were reports earlier in the year that Jonathan had made the switch from the PDP to the governing APC. There have also been speculations that he is predisposed to throwing his weight behind Labour Party candidate Peter Obi.
However, in a video making the rounds on social media, Jonathan described Governor Okowa of the PDP as Nigeria’s incoming Vice-President.
“We pray that this Kolanut representing all of us here will give more energy, more acceptability and more success in all our endeavours, especially to those who want to represent us next year (Atiku/Okowa ticket)… our incoming Vice-President…,” Jonathan said.
Jonathan further stated that he is willing and ready to support and work for the success of the PDP in the 2023 election.
On his part, Governor Okowa said it is important to seek the support of President Jonathan and that with his blessings, the party is poised for victory in February.
