In the Akowonjo area of Lagos State, Agnes Forte, a visually impaired woman, has been distressed over the disappearance of her one-year-old baby, Excel.
As gathered by Quest Times, the toddler was last seen in the company of her stepsister, Joy, on Tuesday, November 28.
Agnes while speaking with newsmen, recounted that she was in her room when 13-year-old Joy and Excel were playing along the corridor.
Distressed, she mentioned that she could no longer hear their voices after a while, adding that all attempts to locate them have been in vain.
“We had just finished eating when my baby opened the door and stepped outside to play. That was when I called Joy to go and bring her back. But she refused to come in when my sister tried to bring her back. So, I told them not to go beyond the corridor. A few minutes later, Joy came inside and went out again to meet Excel. Then, I started to hear her sing “Jumping, jumping” three times and I did not hear them again. After a while, I called their names and none of them answered,” Agnes said.
It was also learned that worried neighbours joined the search, but neither Joy nor Excel was found.
Agnes shared that Joy, who started living with them in January, had a history of running away to avoid discipline but had never taken Excel before.
Her husband, John, said he immediately began searching when his mother informed him of the incident.
“I was in the office when my mother called and told me what happened. When I came back, I went around looking for her but did not find them,” he said.
He added that despite reporting to the police, they are yet to receive any updates or assistance in finding the missing child hence, the family has appealed to the police to intensify efforts in locating the children.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, has not responded to inquiries as of the time of this report.
