Eze Chukwuemeka, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has voiced concerns over the dissolution of the APC executive in Rivers State, suggesting it as a strategy by President Bola Tinubu to diminish the political influence of former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, officially dissolved the executive of the Rivers State chapter, concurrently establishing a caretaker committee tasked with organizing a congress for the election of new executives.
This development follows two months of discontent among party members loyal to Amaechi, including Tonye Cole, the state governorship candidate, who alleged that Tinubu favored the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and his supporters over them.
Chukwuemeka, in an interview with PUNCH, claimed that a covert alliance involving a political cabal and the president was orchestrating the dissolution to systematically erode Amaechi’s political legacy in Rivers State. He cautioned that more maneuvers might unfold in the coming months.
In his words:
“The dissolution is part of the ongoing efforts in a series to wane and totally demolish the political influence and legacies of Amaechi in Rivers State. The public should expect more in the coming months as the stage is set for the cabal to publicly display what has been strategically agreed upon behind closed doors.”
When asked whether Tinubu and Ganduje were behind the plot to undermine Amaechi, Chukwuemeka affirmed, urging Tinubu to redirect efforts toward addressing national issues rather than targeting Amaechi.
He added;
“Yes. It was a grand ploy to demean Amaechi. It is a whole lot of conspiracy that doesn’t profit the Tinubu. Amaechi is not the problem of Nigeria. So I urge the President and his cabal to channel the energy they have deployed to execute their political scheme in Rivers, to curbing insecurity, ending hunger, solving the ever-rising and unbearable cost of living and its attendant frustration on Nigerians, and leaving Amaechi and his political family alone”
