Sunday night saw the abduction of a woman and her three children, including a six-month-old baby, by gunmen believed to be bandits.
Quest Times gathered that the incident occurred during an attack on the Zone 5 segment of the Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation Estate along Arab Road in the Federal Capital Territory.
The gunmen launched the attack between the hours of 8pm and 9pm on Sunday, December 10, shooting indiscriminately and causing chaos in the area.
An anonymous resident disclosed that kidnapping has become a usual occurrence in the area every December.
He stated, “This kidnapping has become a regular occurrence here every December. If you remember very well, last December, a similar incident of abduction had happened in the area, now this is another one, and it is worrisome.”
Meanwhile, another resident noted, “This kidnapping is due to a lack of adequate security in the area. Last night they kidnapped a whole family – a mother and her three children, including a six months old baby here at Zone 5, Kubwa Extension 2 Relocation estate.”
However, the FCT Police Command is yet to issue an official statement regarding the recent development.
When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, promised to gather information about the development and provide a response.
“I will find out and get back to you as soon as possible please,” Adeh said.
It was reportedly said that all efforts to reach the FCT CP, Haruna Garba, for comments on the matter were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to phone calls on Monday.
