Olaposi Oginni, National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has strongly refuted claims circulating about a coalition between his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and six other political parties.
In a letter to the Board of Trustees Chairman of PDP on Sunday, Oginni while condemning the reports as entirely false and baseless, emphasized that NNPP had not authorized any collaboration with other political entities, urging the public to dismiss any reports linking NNPP to a purported coalition.
Oginni, representing the collective stance of NNPP leaders, also cautioned the PDP against engaging with individuals not aligned with NNPP’s interests.
He specifically mentioned Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, Dr. Temitope Aluko, Engr. Abdullahi Babayo, and Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major, all key figures at NNPP’s National Secretariat, as not supporting any such coalition.
“I have the collective instruction of Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, the Founder and Life Member of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP, Dr. Temitope Aluko, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP, and Engr. Abdullahi Babayo, the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP and The National Chairman, Dr Agbo Gilbert Major, all of the NNPP’s National Secretariat, Winlands Plaza, Wuse Zone 4, FCT Abuja,” he stated.
Quest Times further reports that the letter served as a formal notice to PDP and others, clarifying that NNPP had not granted authorization for any coalition, dismissing the speculation circulating in the media.
Moreover, Oginni warned that any attempt to proceed with the alleged coalition, especially involving Sen. Kwankwaso, would be viewed as serious hypocrisy.
He equally emphasized that Sen. Kwankwaso is not a member of NNPP and lacks the authority to negotiate or form coalitions on behalf of the party.
NNPP then pledged to involve regulatory and security agencies to prevent potential harm to the party and avoid disruptions to the peace, promising swift action to safeguard their integrity.
“The relevant regulatory agency, security agency of the Federal Government and the general public will be notified immediately to ensure that your party and Sen. Kwankwaso do not cause any further damage to our party and to prevent any avoidable breakdown of law and order, besides needless litigations.”
In conclusion, Oginni urged PDP’s leadership to steer clear of any manipulation or illegal plans propagated by expelled members, highlighting the absurdity of claims made by individuals like Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who falsely identifies as a former Presidential Candidate of NNPP.
